    TORONTO, ON - Aug 15 2013 — Paul Elliott, the new President of the Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation (OSSTF/FEESO), addressed over 400 local leaders and participants at the annual OSSTF/FEESO Leadership Conference this morning at the Sheraton Centre in Toronto.     Mark in the Park - June 8, 2013

    Members from I. E. Weldon at the first Mark in the Park event on May 11, 2013.

    Join us for three (3) hours of passive protest and public education as we take our marking to the public sphere and promote awareness of education issues in Ontario. Bring a lawn chair and a stack of marking to Victoria Park in Lindsay for a chance to demonstrate solidarity, remind our local leaders that we have not forgotten Bill 115 and help educate the public about the importance of defending charter rights in Ontario.

    Relay for Life - June 21, 2013

    Blow off exam stress by joining our team of OSSTF walkers in this 24 hour relay that the Ops Community Centre.  Join us for a short walk or come for the whole event from 7pm Friday June 21 to 7am Saturday June 22.

    If you can't make it, please consider supporting the Canadian Cancer Society by donating at our team website.

  • PSSP Barganing Unit Annual General Meeting

    The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the PSSP Bargaining Unit will be held at the Dominion Hotel in Minden on June 19, 2013.  The meeting is scheduled to begin at 4pm.  All District 15 PSSP members are encouraged to attend.  Dinner and drinks will be provided by OSSTF at no cost to members.

    Elections for the 2013-2014 Executive will be held at this time.  Positions available are: President, Vice President, Secretary-Treasurer, and Chief Negotiator.  The term of office is July 1, 2013 - June 30, 2014.  If you are interested in one of these positions, descriptions of duties can be found in the PSSP Bargaining Unit Constitution.

    Members are asked to RSVP to Mary Ager, District 15 PSSP President.

  • District 15 Raising Funds for Minden Flood Relief

    Members of OSSTF District 15 are encouraged to give generously to the Minden Flood Relief Fund by participating in the District 15 campaign to assist citizens who have suffered flood damage to homes and properties in Minden, a small community within the District.  The Teachers' / Occasional Teachers' Bargaining Unit is prepared to match members' donations, dollar for dollar, up to a maximum of $1000.00.

    Members can donate by either cash or cheque (payable to: Township of Minden Hills - Flood Relief Fund).  Donations are eligible for a tax receipt, issued by the Township of Minden Hills.  Branch Presidents will be collecting and recording member donations so that the matching donation by the Bargaining Unit can be made.  Donations can also be forwarded directly to the District Office.  All donations will be forwarded to the Township of Minden Hills after May 14, 2013.

  • Media Release: OSSTF Donates $50,000.00 to Kids Help Phone

    TORONTO, ON - May 09 2013 — “The Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation (OSSTF/FEESO) has been a proud supporter of Kids Help Phone for many years, and today we are pleased to continue that commitment by donating $50,000 to this very important resource for children and youth,” said OSSTF/FEESO President Ken Coran at a press conference held at the home office of Kids Help Phone in Toronto today.  Read more ...

  • Provincial Status of Women Conference - May 10-11, 2013

    The 2013 OSSTF Status of Women Conference will be held on May 10-11, 2013 at the Radisson Hotel Toronto East.

    The theme of this year’s conference is Tools for Activism and Empowerment.  The conference will focus on ways in which women can influence their union, employers, and communities to move forward the agenda for women’s equality.  This conference brings together women union leaders and those who are interested in becoming more active, with opportunities to share ideas, experiences and advice.  Keynote speakers, workshops and activities will explore the legacy of women activists while examining the work still left to do and provide some of the tools for empowering women everywhere. 

    The Status of Women Committee invites one woman representative from each bargaining unit.  Additional delegates may attend at a minimal cost to the bargaining unit or district.  If you are interested in attending as a delegate from District 15, please contact the District Office to arrange for your registration.

  • Professional Development Fund Application Deadline

    Members intending to make an application to the Professional Development Fund for subsidies for expenses related to professional development activities paid between May 1, 2012 and April 30, 2013 should be advised that the deadline to submit applications to the District Office is May 15, 2013.
