The Collective Agreement (T/OT Bargaining Unit)
Fundamental to our working conditions is the Collective Agreement between the parties. The Collective Agreement is the contract ratified by OSSTF District 15 members in the Teachers’ / Occasional Teachers’ Bargaining Unit and the Trillium Lakelands District School Board (TLDSB), which specifies the rights and responsibilities of each party in the employment relationship. Like all collective agreements, it exists as the result of coordinated and concerted actions through collective bargaining, and requires continual maintenance.
The 2014-2017 Collective Agreement is made up of two parts. Part 1 is the Central Terms agreed to through central bargaining between OSSTF, the Ontario Public School Boards Association (OPSBA) and the provincial government. Part 2 is the Local Terms. It must be noted that at the time of posting, Article L10.05 and Article L23.10 (c) have not been agreed to, and are currently being reviewed by OSSTF and OPSBA at the Central Dispute Resolution Committee as per C5.2.
Significantly, new language was negotiated under article L5.16 Teacher Performance Appraisal to include a TLDSB/OSSTF District 15 New and Experienced Teacher Performance Appraisal Process. This document now forms a part of the collective agreement.
In the spring of 2017, a two year extension agreement was ratified by the central parties, and under the OSSTF constitution, a membership ratification was required. The ratification vote succeeded, approving the Extension Agreement and therefore modifying the Central Terms for the 2017-2019 school years. The Extension Agreement established, among other things, the Employee Life and Health Trust (ELHT). The OSSTF ELHT is called OSSTFBenefits. In addition to the Collective Agreement our employment is governed by a variety of legislation:

- Occupational Health and Safety Act
Related to each act of legislation are regulations that specify or articulate more fully the legislation under which they were enacted.
